behind the lens
Hello! I am a multimedia practitioner, researcher, producer and educator, achieving multiple awards. My NZ/ Polynesian roots shape a saltwater obsession and sharing of immersive, holistic practices. Projects innovate stories of Australian identity, social justice, ecology and animals for positive change outcomes.
I currently research, coordinate, educate and deliver fresh, accessible Digital Learning and Literacy projects across communities for Brisbane Library Services. Impactful projects include Podcasting, Media Conversion Stations and Digital Learning programs for culturally diverse communities.
My PhD, Shadows: Re-visualising the shark explored new techniques for creating ecocentric films advocating for the shark and challenging negative stereotypes. Images were presented to UNESCO in their consideration of recommendations for protecting the Great Barrier Reef. My Masters, Fact or Fiction? Photography merging genres in children’s picturebooks delivered Nudge’s Tale, an award-winning book and digital story raising environmental perspectives.
I have delivered successive high-impact Creative Industries projects for government, and programs for Brisbane City Council Libraries, Queensland University of Technology, Brisbane Youth Education and Training Centre, Queensland College of Art and Griffith University.
